Concrete Contractor in Hiram, GA

Driveways, back patios and fences for Hiram homes, about ten minutes west of our Powder Springs base on US 278.

Medina Concrete is a concrete contractor Hiram homeowners can reach in about ten minutes from Powder Springs, just over the Cobb line into Paulding County. Most of what we pour here sits in the subdivisions that spread out along US 278 and Highway 92: replacement driveways, new back patios, and the walkway that the builder never put in.

Hiram grew fast, and a lot of its houses went up in the same couple of decades. That means a lot of driveways reaching the age where the slab has settled at the garage lip, cracked across the middle, or started to hold water by the street. It also means plenty of backyards that are still bare grass on graded red clay.

Francisco Medina comes out to every Hiram estimate himself. He walks the slope, checks where the gutters dump, and tells you what the base needs before anyone talks about finishes. If you are closer to Powder Springs proper, our Powder Springs page covers the home side of the line.

What We Pour and Build in Hiram

Long new concrete driveway through a wooded lot

Concrete Driveways

Plenty of Hiram driveways were poured thin over fill when the neighborhood was built, and that is usually where the sunken panels come from. We break out the old slab, re-grade, compact the base and pour with control joints laid out for the length of your drive.

Concrete Patios

A back patio is the most common first project on a Hiram lot that came with nothing but a sliding door and a step. We size it to the door, slope it away from the foundation, and can leave room to add a pergola or a fire pit area later.

Stamped Concrete

For homeowners who want the patio to look like stone, stamping gives an ashlar or slate pattern in one pour. We talk through color and how often to reseal, since Georgia sun fades a sealer faster than most people expect.

Fence Installation

Subdivision lots in Hiram tend to sit close together, so a wood privacy fence is often the next request after the patio. We set the posts, hang the gates wide enough for a mower, and run the line so it works with your drainage instead of damming it.

Everything else we do is on the services page.

Subdivision Lots off US 278 and Highway 92

Driving into Hiram on US 278 you pass the shopping centers first, then the neighborhoods fan out to the north and south of the highway and along Highway 92 toward Douglas County. Most of these homes sit on cut and filled lots, where part of the yard is native clay and part was pushed in by the builder.

Fill settles at a different rate than undisturbed ground. On a driveway that shows up as a panel that drops an inch below its neighbor, and on a patio it shows up as a corner that tips toward the house. Before pricing anything, we probe for soft spots and plan the base around them.

Water, Slope and the Silver Comet Side of Town

The Silver Comet Trail runs right through Hiram, and the homes near it tend to sit on rolling ground with backyards that fall away from the house. Rain off a long roofline can carve a channel straight across a new slab if nobody plans for it, so we set the pitch and, where needed, a swale or drain at the low edge.

Summer pours in Paulding County are a race against heat. We start early, keep the surface damp while it cures, and cut joints the same day so the slab cracks where we chose instead of where it wants to.

What Shapes the Price of a Hiram Job

Three things move the number more than anything else: how much old concrete has to come out, how far the truck can reach, and how much grading the yard needs. A front driveway with open access from the street is a simpler pour than a patio behind a fenced backyard where everything goes in by wheelbarrow.

Finish is the other choice. A broom finish is the plain, grippy surface most driveways get, while stamping and color add labor and sealer. Francisco prices each option side by side so you can pick, and the estimate costs nothing.

Why Hiram Homeowners Call Medina Concrete

  • Ten minutes from the shop. Hiram is the first town west of Powder Springs, so a site visit here is a quick drive down 278 rather than a special trip.
  • The owner writes the estimate. Francisco measures the job himself and explains the base, thickness and joints in plain terms, at no charge.
  • Fill dirt gets checked first. We look for the settled ground that cracks subdivision driveways before we form a single board.
  • Se habla español. Call in English or Spanish and talk to the person who will be on your job.

Hiram Concrete Questions

Do you work in Hiram, GA?

Yes. Hiram is about ten minutes west of our base in Powder Springs, just across the line into Paulding County. Francisco comes out to Hiram for free estimates Monday through Friday.

Why did my Hiram driveway sink near the garage?

Many Hiram homes sit on lots where part of the yard is fill dirt pushed in when the subdivision was built. Fill settles over the years, and a slab poured over it drops with it. When we replace a driveway like that we re-grade and compact the base before pouring.

Are concrete driveways a good idea?

For most homes, yes. A concrete driveway poured over a compacted base, with joints in the right places, holds up to daily car traffic and Georgia heat and needs little more than an occasional cleaning and reseal. The base matters more than anything else.

How deep should a concrete base be for a patio?

It depends on the soil and what will sit on the patio. On red clay we usually dig out the topsoil and put down a compacted gravel layer under the slab so water drains instead of sitting under the concrete. Francisco will tell you what your yard needs at the estimate.

What are the downsides of a concrete patio?

Concrete will crack a little over time, which is why we cut control joints so the cracks follow a straight line. Plain concrete can also get hot in full summer sun. Sealing every few years and choosing a lighter finish help with both.

Is stamped concrete cheaper than poured concrete?

No. Stamped concrete is poured concrete with extra steps for color, pattern and sealer, so it costs more than a plain broom finish. The size, the pattern and how much color you want all drive the price, and the estimate is free.
