Concrete Contractor in Mableton, GA

New driveways, back patios, decks and additions for Mableton homes, from Floyd Road east toward the Chattahoochee.

Medina Concrete is a concrete contractor working in Mableton, roughly 10 to 20 minutes from our home base in Powder Springs. Francisco Medina gives every estimate himself, and se habla español.

Mableton became Cobb County's newest city in 2023, but its neighborhoods are far older than that. Brick and frame ranch houses from the middle of the last century line the streets off Floyd Road, Mableton Parkway and Veterans Memorial Highway, with infill homes and new townhomes mixed in among them.

Those older houses usually need concrete replaced rather than added: a driveway cracked into sections, a back stoop too small to stand on, a carport floor that has dropped at one corner. Many owners also want more room without leaving the neighborhood, which is where our framing and addition work comes in.

Popular Projects for Mableton Homes

Driveway Replacement

Driveways from that era are often thinner than what gets poured today and broken in several places. We break the old one out, haul it off, rebuild the base and pour a new driveway, wider if the lot leaves room for it.

Back Patios

A lot of ranch houses here have one step off the kitchen door straight onto grass. A poured patio, broom finished, stained or stamped, turns that step into a place to sit outside.

Home Additions

Adding a bedroom, a bigger kitchen or a family room to a one-story ranch is a common way to stay in Mableton and gain space. We pour the foundation, frame the addition, and go over the layout with you at the estimate.

Decks

On houses with a basement or a walkout, a raised deck off the main floor is often the best use of the back of the house. We build the deck and can pour a slab beneath it so the space below is usable too.

Older Ranch Houses and the Concrete Around Them

Mid-century concrete was often poured without the rebar, gravel base or joint spacing that is normal now. After decades of clay moving under it, the age shows: slabs tilted toward the house, gaps where steps pulled away from the foundation, and corners snapped off by delivery trucks.

Replacing that concrete is a chance to fix drainage the original builder never thought about. We pitch new work away from the house, set steps on a proper footing and space the joints so the new slab cracks along straight lines if it cracks at all. Our steps and walkways page goes into that detail.

Carports and detached garages get the same treatment. When a floor has settled, the fix usually means removing it, correcting the soil and pouring a reinforced slab rather than patching the low corner.

Nickajack Creek, the Silver Comet Trail and Mableton Hills

The Silver Comet Trail crosses Mableton, and Nickajack Creek winds through the eastern side on its way to the Chattahoochee River. The land between them rises and falls more than visitors expect, so many Mableton backyards drop off behind the house.

On lots like that a patio may need a low retaining wall to stay level, and a deck often makes more sense than trucking in fill. Francisco looks at the drop and tells you which approach fits the yard and what you want to spend.

Lots that back onto the creek or its branches can stay wet well into spring. On that soft ground a deck on concrete footings is often the better choice than a slab that would have to bridge it.

Adding Space to a Mableton House

An addition starts with concrete, whether that is a slab on grade or footings and a crawl space. Because we pour and frame, the foundation and the walls on top of it are planned by the same person, which keeps floor heights and the tie-in to the existing house in line. The framing page shows the porch and garage framing we do.

Many Mableton ranches sit over a crawl space a couple of feet above the yard, so a new room usually needs footings and a framed floor that meets the existing one at the doorway. A slab on grade can suit a garage conversion or a room built a step down from the house.

We are close by in Powder Springs, and we cover neighboring Austell and Smyrna as well.

Mableton Concrete Questions

Should I replace or repair the old driveway on my Mableton ranch house?

If the driveway is cracked into sections, sinking or thin, replacing it with a new base and properly spaced joints is usually the better use of the money. A single crack in an otherwise sound slab may not need that. Francisco will look at it and tell you which it is.

Can you build an addition onto a one-story ranch in Mableton?

Yes. We pour the foundation and frame the addition, whether that is a bedroom, a larger kitchen or a family room. The layout and how it joins the existing house are worked out with you at the estimate.

How long does a room addition take?

It depends on the size of the room, the foundation it needs, the weather and any inspections required. Francisco gives you a schedule for your project once the plan is set at the estimate.

Is it worth it to add an addition to your house?

For many families it is, especially when they like the neighborhood and need one more bedroom or a bigger living space. Whether it makes sense for you depends on the lot, the house and what you need the room for, and we can talk that through at the free estimate.

What are the downsides of a concrete patio?

Concrete can crack as the ground moves, and it gets hot in full summer sun. Good base work and control joints keep cracking to straight, planned lines, and a lighter finish or a pergola overhead helps with heat. Sealing every couple of years protects the surface.

How much would a 20x20 deck cost to build?

The price depends on the height off the ground, the stairs and railing, the footings, and whether you want a concrete slab underneath. Francisco measures the space and gives you a free estimate for the deck you have in mind.
